Situated at the foot of the dramatic Honister pass you enter the magical world of the late Alfred Wainwright. Buttermere is surrounded by spectacular views of the fells and Dalegarth Guesthouse is situated in one of the finest fell walking areas of the Lake District, If not the world! Dalegarth Guesthouse is an ideal base for walkers of all ages and abilities, from a 2 hour stroll around the lake to a sedate 20 minute walk from Dalegarth along the lakeside path to Buttermere village where there are two excellent pubs serving evening meals and cask ales. There are also a couple of cafés selling cakes and homemade ice cream. You don't just have to be a dedicated walker to enjoy our tranquil location though, Buttermere is a beautiful and inspirational place and also makes the perfect location for Artists, Photographers and Musicians and especially those just seeking relaxation.
Alternatively, why not visit Honister slate mine situated at the top of the pass which offers mine tours, zip rides, via ferrata and an excellent cafe. The surrounding area offers a wide range of attractions easily reached by car or the local bus service (March - October) which runs regularly and stops outside the gates of Dalegarth Guesthouse linking us to Keswick.
Keswick is only10 miles away, and is a town with something for everyone. Accessible by a regular bus service from outside Dalegarth Guesthouse
(Its worth a trip for the scenic Bus Ride Alone!) Shops galore an Old style Cinema, Art Galleries, Cafes, Theatre on the Lake, Outdoor kit beyond belief and more.
